YIN YOGA 50HR TEACHER TRAINING

with Raewyn Fernandez, weaving Ayurveda, energetic anatomy and the art of stillness

Starts Thursday, the 11th of March 2027

One Big Heart Studio, Camden

Exploring Yin Yoga through Ayurveda, anatomy and the wisdom of practice

There is so much to discover when we give ourselves time to study a practice more deeply. A posture we have experienced many times can begin to feel different as we understand the body, explore the philosophy behind it and become more attentive to our own experience.

This 50-hour training is an invitation to deepen your relationship with Yin Yoga and develop the knowledge and confidence to share it with others. Together, we’ll explore functional anatomy, the foundations of Yin, Ayurvedic principles and subtle body teachings. There will be time to practise, ask questions, learn from one another and begin bringing these teachings into your own voice.

Whether you are a yoga teacher wanting to expand your offerings or a student feeling drawn to understand more, I would love to welcome you.

Perhaps Yin has become an important part of your own practice. You appreciate having time to settle into a posture, notice what is happening and become a little more aware of how you are feeling.

You might already teach and want to feel more confident offering alternatives, working with different bodies or creating sequences that have a clear intention. Perhaps you are curious about the philosophy and energetics of the practice and would like to understand how to share these teachings in a way that feels meaningful.

During our time together, we’ll look closely at what we are doing when we practise and teach Yin. We’ll explore why a posture can feel completely different in two bodies, how to work with props and variations, and how to recognise when a different approach may be needed.

My hope is that you leave with a deeper understanding of the practice and greater trust in your ability to make thoughtful choices as a teacher.

What you will learn...

This 50-hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training blends functional anatomy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, yoga philosophy, subtle body teachings, and embodied practice to help you teach with greater intelligence, confidence, and depth.

Designed for yoga teachers, wellness practitioners, retreat facilitators, and dedicated students, this training will help you create Yin Yoga classes and sequences that are therapeutic, seasonal, nervous-system supportive, and deeply intentional.

Throughout the training, you will explore:

  • The history, philosophy, and modern evolution of Yin Yoga

  • Functional anatomy, fascia, skeletal variation, and the meridian system

  • The subtle body in Yin Yoga, including energetic awareness and embodied practice

  • Ayurveda for Yin Yoga: understanding Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, and sequencing for balance

  • Seasonal Yin Yoga and elemental practices aligned with nature’s cycles

  • Nervous system regulation and the role of Yin Yoga in stress, burnout, rest, and resilience

  • Yin Yoga for women’s health, including hormonal balance, pre- and post-menopause, and fatigue support

  • Intelligent sequencing, creative class theming, and effective cueing

  • How to integrate Ayurveda and Yin Yoga into classes, workshops, retreats, and holistic wellness offerings

This training is rooted in traditional wisdom while designed for the realities of modern life, offering practical tools that support both personal practice and professional teaching.

The place of Ayurveda in this training

Ayurveda has become part of how I understand my own life, care for my family and approach my work. It naturally informs the way I teach yoga, too.

One of the things I value most about Ayurveda is that it asks us to consider the individual. Our needs change with the seasons, our stage of life, our daily demands and what we are experiencing at any given time. This understanding brings another dimension to the way we approach a yoga practice.

Within this training, we’ll explore the elements, the doshas and the qualities Ayurveda uses to describe our experiences. We’ll consider how these teachings can inform the pace of a class, the environment we create and the way we guide people through a practice.

For example, when someone arrives feeling scattered or depleted, we can begin to consider how warmth, support, simple instructions and a steady rhythm might shape their experience. We also learn to remain curious about the person themselves, rather than making assumptions about what they need.

Alongside Ayurveda, we’ll explore the Taoist and Chinese medicine influences within contemporary Yin Yoga. There is richness in studying these traditions with respect for their individual histories and ways of understanding the body.

Who This Training Is For

This training welcomes yoga teachers who would like to begin teaching Yin, as well as those already sharing the practice who want to deepen their understanding.

It is also open to dedicated students who feel drawn to study for themselves. You don’t have to arrive with a plan to teach. Sometimes the desire to learn is enough.

If you work in bodywork, wellbeing or retreat facilitation, you may also find valuable connections with your existing work. How you bring the training into your professional offerings will depend on your qualifications, experience and insurance.

You are welcome to get in touch if you’re unsure whether the course is the right fit. I’m always happy to hear a little about your background and what you’re hoping to learn.

How we’ll spend our time

Our days together will include Yin practice, teaching, conversation, anatomy exploration and time to work with what you’re learning.

You’ll have opportunities to try different approaches, practise guiding others and ask the questions that arise along the way. Learning alongside other people is such a valuable part of this process. We often understand something more fully when we see how differently it is experienced in another body.

The online component will support our in-person time with lectures, guided practices, readings and reflection. Both components form part of the training and need to be completed for certification.

I want there to be room for you to be a student here, including when something takes time to make sense.
