Āyurveda is one of the world's oldest systems of health and wellbeing, originating in India more than 5,000 years ago. The word Āyurveda comes from two Sanskrit words: āyus meaning "life" and veda meaning "knowledge" or "wisdom." Together, Āyurveda translates to "the wisdom of life."

Rather than focusing solely on treating symptoms, Āyurveda seeks to understand the whole person. It views health as a state of balance between the body, mind, senses and spirit, and teaches that true wellbeing arises when we live in harmony with both our unique constitution and the rhythms of nature.

At its heart, Āyurveda asks a simple question:

What is causing the imbalance, and how can we gently restore harmony?

A Personalised Approach to Health

One of the reasons people are drawn to Āyurveda is its deeply personalised approach.

Āyurveda recognises that no two people are exactly the same. What supports one person's health may not support another's. Through an understanding of your unique constitution, known as your prakṛti, Āyurveda provides individualised recommendations for food, lifestyle, daily routines, movement, herbs and self-care practices.

Rather than following the latest wellness trend, Āyurveda teaches us how to understand our own bodies and make choices that support long-term vitality.

What is Ayurveda

Living in Rhythm with Nature

Āyurveda teaches that we are not separate from nature; we are part of it.

Just as the seasons change, our bodies and minds are continually responding to shifts in climate, environment, age, stress levels and daily routines. By adjusting our lifestyle, food choices and self-care practices to align with these natural cycles, we can cultivate greater balance and resilience throughout the year.

This seasonal wisdom remains one of the most practical and relevant aspects of Āyurveda today.

How Āyurveda May Support You

People often seek Āyurveda when they are experiencing:

  • Stress, overwhelm or burnout

  • Poor sleep or insomnia

  • Digestive concerns

  • Hormonal imbalances

  • Fatigue and low energy

  • Anxiety and nervous system dysregulation

  • Menstrual and perimenopausal symptoms

  • A desire for a more holistic approach to wellbeing

Āyurveda offers gentle, sustainable strategies that work alongside modern healthcare and empower individuals to take an active role in their health.

My approach to Āyurveda honours both the traditional wisdom of this ancient system and the realities of modern life.

Through consultations, workshops, teacher trainings and body therapies, I support individuals in understanding their unique constitution, restoring balance and cultivating simple practices that can be woven into everyday living.

Whether you are completely new to Āyurveda or looking to deepen your understanding, my intention is to make these teachings accessible, practical and relevant for modern life.

Health is not something we chase. It is something we cultivate through the small choices we make each day.

Āyurveda offers a roadmap back to that balance.
