Self-Abhyanga
Workshop

Learn the ancient Ayurvedic practice of self-massage for nervous system support, vitality and deep nourishment.

There are few practices within Āyurveda as simple, accessible and profoundly transformative as Abhyanga.

For thousands of years, this daily ritual of warm oil self-massage has been prescribed as a foundational practice for supporting longevity, resilience, healthy ageing and overall wellbeing. More than simply applying oil to the body, Abhyanga is an act of nourishment, self-care and reconnection.

In a world that often asks us to move faster, do more and give endlessly to others, Abhyanga offers an invitation to slow down and return home to ourselves.

This workshop is designed to teach you how to confidently incorporate this ancient practice into your own life, using techniques that are practical, realistic and supportive of modern living.

Whether you are completely new to Āyurveda or looking to deepen your existing understanding, you will leave with the knowledge and confidence to establish a self-Abhyanga practice at home.

Abhyanga is a traditional Ayurvedic practice involving the application of warm herbal oil to the body using specific massage techniques.

Traditionally performed daily, Abhyanga is considered one of the most powerful ways to calm the nervous system, support circulation, nourish the tissues, improve sleep and cultivate a deeper connection to the body.

In Āyurveda, oil is regarded as one of nature's most potent medicines. It carries warmth, nourishment, softness and stability into the body, helping to counter many of the qualities associated with stress, depletion and modern living.

While a professional treatment can be deeply therapeutic, the true power of Abhyanga lies in learning how to care for yourself consistently through this simple daily ritual.

“Self-Abhyanga has become something I genuinely look forward to each morning. Before the demands of the day begin, I spend a few minutes connecting with the body that will carry me through it—checking in, listening and offering care where I notice tension or fatigue.

The experience feels far deeper than skincare or self-care. Since beginning the practice, my digestion feels stronger, my nervous system feels more settled, and I’m noticing what my body needs much earlier.

Raewyn holds the space with so much humility and warmth. She makes what could feel vulnerable instead feel natural, welcoming and safe. It was a beautiful reminder that caring for ourselves doesn’t need to be complicated.”
